One Armed Man

WITH GUEST DIRECTOR TIM GUINEE

Run Time: 27 Minutes USA Language: English

Synopsis

Based on Horton Foote’s chilling drama of the same name, Tim Guinee’s directorial debut is a skillful, compelling adaption. The story focuses on C.W. Rowe, the wealthiest man in Harrison, Texas and the owner of a cotton gin. Rowe’s financial ascendancy has solidified an unshakable belief in the system that enriched him. Few things ever interrupt the purity of his vision, with the exception of the weekly visit of a young man, Ned, who lost an arm in the gin’s machinery.

Screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich)was impressed: “One Armed Man is a great film. Tim Guinee has brought his tremendous skill and sensitivity as an actor to help shape nuanced and deeply-felt performances from Charles Haid, Terry Kinney, and John Magaro. The film is a beautifully shot, concise, and heartbreaking exploration of the guilt, loss, denial, and psychic and physical violence that comes with being human.”
